Halloween, and this year’s Steam Scream Fest Sale discounts, are just around the corner; the perfect time to dive into terrifyingly good games. Running from October 28th to November 4th, as usual, it is the ideal opportunity to pick up spooky games at killer prices. If you’re unsure what to add to your cart this season, we’ve got you covered. From psychological horror to gory action-packed monster-slaying, you should grab these seven games if they are part of the Halloween sales line-up.
1. Silent Hill 2 Remake
After years of anticipation, Silent Hill 2 Remake has brought its terrifying psychological horror back to life with modern graphics and updated gameplay. The remake faithfully recreates the haunting journey of James Sunderland, who returns to the eerie, fog-filled town of Silent Hill to find his late wife.
This remake is a must-play for old fans or newcomers thanks to the even immersive and disturbing HD atmosphere and chilling new soundtrack. A hefty discount on its $50 pricetag would make revisiting the twisted world of Silent Hill 2 even more tempting. If there’s one game to get during the Steam Halloween sale, this is it.
2. GTFO
Fast-paced survival horror with a cooperative twist is more your speed? Then GTFO will have you and your friends screaming through the spooky season. In this hardcore FPS, you and up to three other players must dive deep into an underground complex filled with mutated monsters. Teamwork and communication are a must as you complete objectives while trying to stay ahead of whatever lurking behind.
Although it’s a no-brainer for a Halloween gaming party, it’ll cost a total of around $160 for four people. A huge slash to its price would make this multiplayer horror experience much more inviting.
3. Evil West
What better way to spend Halloween than taking down terrifying undead creatures with trusty revolvers and steampunk gadgetry? Enter Evil West, a game that lets you become a vampire hunter in the Wild West.
The game offers classic action game excitement without unnecessary fluffs– for better or worse. For that reason, some of you might find it a bit lacking in the cinematic areas. A steep discount from its $50 base price though should make it a must-buy for fans of both Westerns and monster-hunting. Plus, it has a co-op mode to boot!
4. Strange Brigade
Few games embrace the campy charm of horror quite like Strange Brigade. Set in the 1930s, you join a ragtag group of adventurers battling supernatural threats across the world. What makes Strange Brigade stand out is its blend of Indiana Jones-style puzzles with hordes of mythological monsters.
This co-op shooter feels like it was ripped straight from classic adventure pulps and films, making it a perfect light-hearted Halloween romp. If Steam Scream Sale gives it a decent discount from $50, Strange Brigade could be another action-packed addition to your and your friends’ library.
5. Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse
Ever wonder what it’s like to be the zombie instead of the victim? Stubbs the Zombie flips the script and lets you take control of a lovable, yet-evil undead. Your mission? Eat brains and create an army of fellow zombies to take over the city of Punchbowl.
Stubbs the Zombie is a refreshing break from the usual survival horror with a quirky sense of humor and unique gameplay involving infecting humans and using your zombie powers. It’s already an affordable game, considering it’s sold for $20. But a Steam Scream Sale discount would make it as irresistible as a human brain.
6. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
Few games capture the eerie essence of Japanese horror quite like this one. Armed only with a mystical camera to fend off the spirits, the tense atmosphere will keep you on edge from start to finish. Fatal Frame is an essential and extremely unique experience for any self-proclaimed horror enthusiast. Thanks to its roots deep in psychological horror and a one-of-a-kind photography combat system.
This game is usually priced at $50. Koei Tecmo doesn’t discount its library that often; snap it fast if it shows up during this year’s Halloween Steam Scream Sale.
7. Mecha Knights: Nightmare
Last but not least is the unlikely combination of giant robots and horror. In this game, you pilot a heavily armed mech to take on hordes of grotesque alien creatures on a war-torn battlefield. Complete with a customization mechanic, anyone slightly familiar with the Muv-Luv series should be right at home.
With an already affordable price of $15, this indie game is a great buy despite some jank. If Steam adds it to the Scream Fest Sale discount, it could easily become the sleeper hit of your Halloween game lineup.
This playlist will carry you through the haunted festivities, alone or with friends. Once they show up in the Steam Scream Fest discount, grab them and prepare for some serious Halloween gaming sessions.
