Keanu Reeves has been a busy man. He’s been featured in many projects this year, from Cyberpunk 2077 to The Matrix 4 to John Wick 4. It seems we’re not done seeing him just yet as it was recently announced that he had a new project in the works. Reeves has announced a new comic, created in collaboration with Matt Kindt and distributed through BOOM! Studios.
It is no secret that Keanu Reeves loves comics. He has previously expressed interest in playing more than a few MCU characters and has admitted to being a long-time fan of Cowboy Bebop. Reeves has even expressed interest in doing a live action version of Cowboy Bebop, which makes the announcement of a comic very on brand for him.
The new comic, BRZRKR, will be a 12 issue limited series and come out in October of this year, with a new comic to be released each month. The story focuses on a warrior known as Bezerker. His background is largely unknown, however what is known about him is his occupation and motivation. Bezerker is a government mercenary whose goal is to discover the truths about his past.
This story line looks interesting to say the least and given Reeves’ love of comics and anime, it is entirely possible that we’ll end up seeing a lot of crossover. The story also has the possibility of becoming a live-action project, which Reeves has stated he would definitely be interested in starring in.
The initial artwork for this comic looks amazing. If the comic looks anything like what has already been released, then the actual books will be stunning. BRZRKR is an interesting concept and a completely new turn for Keanu Reeves. It will be fascinating to see how the story will progress for this first-time comic writer and long-time comic fan.
