G.I Joe, 80’s comic book and cartoon franchise, is coming to Steam in videogame form.
Hasbro has announced via press release that third-person shooter G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout is set to hit the gaming platform on December 15, 2020, for $29.99.
Inspired primarily by the 80’s comics, G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout boasts 17 campaign missions, played either on your own or via co-op. As expected, you visit several fictional locales such as Cobra Headquarters and the U.S.S Flagg. During the story, you fight intense boss battles and drive iconic vehicles like the G.I. Joe Persuader and Cobra H.I.S.S. tanks. And if the story isn’t your thing, you can fight your friends in four-player local PvP multiplayer modes, including Capture the Flag, Assault, King of The Hill, and Deathmatch Arena.
The nostalgia-fest doesn’t end there. Operation Blackout features 12 playable characters from both camps, including Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, Destro, Roadblock, Storm Shadow, and more. Alongside that, a whole array of weapons, skins, and ultimate abilities remain at your disposal to take down your enemies.
What’s more, if you want more bonus content, there’s the G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout Digital Deluxe Edition. This edition, priced at $39.99, comes packed with a digital artbook and soundtrack, the Retro Skins Pack, and the Weapons Pack.
During the first week of release, you can even grab Operation Blackout for 20% off its sale price. So, if you’re curious to dive into some third-person shooter action, then it will be your best chance. If you own a PS4, Xbox One, or Switch, you can already get in on the action since the game launched on consoles earlier this year. It received a 51% Metascore on the website Metacritic, alongside a 5.7 user score.
