Borderlands is the place of carnage, loot, and badassery… which seems to only be expanding within recent reports. CEO of Gearbox – Randy Pitchford has had many fans asking the common question of the appearance of a new Borderlands game.
Alas, Pitchford has come back on the matter. With rumors potentially admitting to a new and improved Borderlands title. To where he specifically says that the rumors are false. As well as conveying that Gearbox would be the lead developer in terms of a new Borderlands game, with no co-development.
“I am told of rumors that Gearbox is ‘assisting’ or ‘co-developing’ another Borderlands game (or a new spin-off game). These rumors are NOT accurate. Gearbox is lead dev of any future games in the Borderlands franchise (or any Borderlands adjacent games) with no co-development”
Whilst this is unfortunately true. Gearbox is known for coming in clutch. However, it looks like Borderlands 3 will be sticking around longer than we think… but with the weeks, months, and years to come. Borderlands is an everlasting title that will inevitably evolve. Whether it will be in the form of DLC or indeed a spin-off title such as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequal. There is still much to come!
However, Pitchford goes on to say what they are getting up to in regards to the Borderlands series. To where he talks about their future plans within some encrypted details…
“definitely working on some amazing stuff
to surprise and delight you.”
Furthermore, the original rumor came from Gamereactor. Who spoke about the chance of a spin-off Borderlands that could exist sooner than we think. In addition, a reporter Jeff Grubb mentioned that a spin-off Borderlands title is coming. Highlighting that Gearbox is in contribution to the game, as well as attending E3 2021. Whilst this could be true, we will have to wait and see within the upcoming popular gaming event – E3.
