There’s nothing quite like a good road trip to remember the beauty and the barren in the great outdoors. No matter the adventure, appreciating the sights is something spectacular to many. Even if it’s only in your own country, you wouldn’t believe what’s out there. But what if your road trip was less an escape from reality, and more an escape from the authoritarian takeover of your homeland? That’s where Road 96 comes in, a fresh indie title from the team at Digixart that’s launched today on both PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch!
Road 96 places you and the main character in the Summer of 1996, as today is the day you finally escape this oppressive regime to start a new life of freedom. The road isn’t exactly straightforward though, as many twists and turns are open to you. How you choose to proceed, the adventures you take, the choices you make, and the secrets you uncover are all up to you. No two playthroughs of Road 96 are the same, so your choices will truly define who you are and what sort of conclusion your story comes to you. The only question left is, where will your road take you?
Yoan Fanise, the incredibly passionate CEO and creative director at Digixart had this to say about the team’s newest game:
This is it, this crazy idea of making a procedural narrative game, with no creative limits for the whole studio is finally coming to players’ hands. I am excited and equally scared to discover their reactions, and moreover the comparisons of their playthroughs. Some will have 6 episodes, some 14, some may die, some may never do it. This game is about freedom, the freedom of the road trip spirit, the freedom against dictatorship, and also maybe, the freedom of indie creation.”
