The nominees for the Game Awards 2015 have been revealed. This awards show originally began as the Spike Video Game Awards, but last year was rebranded as more of an industry show with less of the flash and hype. Overall, the show seems to have benefited from the change. Some categories are voted for by fans, such as the e-sports categories and the “Trending Gamer” category. However, the majority of the awards are judged and handed out by a committee of thirty-two industry members from all over the world.
If you head to the site, you can cast your votes in the “Fan’s Choice” categories now. Go vote for your favorite E-Sports team and your most anticipated game. We’ll wait.
The overall nominations in the Game Awards 2015 do not feature any huge surprises. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt raked in the most overall nominations, with seven total. Just behind it, with five nominations, was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Both of these games were nominated in the “Game of the Year” category, along with PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, the just released Fallout 4, and Nintendo’s creator-friendly Super Mario Maker. The genre-specific categories and technical categories (such as music and art design) can be viewed on the official Game Awards page.
