If there’s one thing crafting sims do well, it’s make you appreciate the value of random debris. While we might not think about sticks and stones much in the real world, they’re some of the most important resources in this genre. As soon as you’re armed with a Pickhammer in My Time at Sandrock, you can start smashing stones to gather the useful materials they contain. One of the most basic resources found this way is Dinas. It may be a simple stone byproduct, but it’s vital for several recipes early in the game. Here’s everything you need to know to get Dinas in My Time at Sandrock.
How to Get Dinas in My Time at Sandrock
The good news is there are several methods to get Dinas in My Time at Sandrock, and they’re all easy, even if you’re just starting the game. The first and easiest method is to break Gravel rocks. These brownish stones can be in the desert surrounding your Workshop, so you never have to go far to locate them. Proximity to your Workshop is a big deal since many resources require you to go much farther to collect. Simply equip your Pickhammer, approach the Gravel, and press or hold “Left Mouse” to break the Gravel. Be careful not to confuse Gravel with Hard Rocks, which are tougher to break and don’t contain Dinas.
How to Buy Dinas
The second means of acquiring Dinas is to buy it. This method requires the least effort on your part, but you’ll also need to spend money. It’s not exactly cost-effective, but if all you want to do is get your hands on some Dinas as quickly as possible, buying it is the best method. You can find it for sale at the Eufaula Salvage shop, located to the east of your Workshop. Each Dinas will cost 8 Gols, so at least they’re cheap.
How to Mine for Dinas
The final way to get Dinas in My Time at Sandrock is by breaking rocks in the Eufaula Salvage Abandoned Ruins or another mine. Like the other methods, there are pros and cons. One of the biggest cons is that the mines aren’t open at the start of the game. To gain access to them, you’ll first have to construct and install a Crane Lift for Rocky. Getting the Crane Lift ready takes a bit of work. Once you’ve completed that, however, you’ll be able to mine in the Abandoned Ruins to your heart’s content.
The main advantage of mining is that it pays off with far more resources overall. Not only will you get Dinas in higher quantities, but you’ll also fill your inventory with Copper and Tin Ore, Power Stones, and even Data Discs. Whether you intend to sell most of what you find or use it for crafting, mining is much more efficient in the long run than wandering around the desert looking for Gravel. Overall, breaking Gravel or purchasing Dinas is fine when you’re just starting out. That said, your best bet is to get into the mines as soon as possible.
