Entertainment Weekly reports that there will be a comic book series based on the popular Creepshow anthology series from Shudder. Skybound Entertainment will bring a Creepshow five-issue miniseries to comic stands everywhere. The miniseries’ first issue will release on September 21, 2022. Each subsequent issue features a different creative team.

Creepshow TV Series On Shudder

Shudder is a streaming service owned by AMC Networks. It primarily focuses on streaming horror, supernatural, and thriller properties such as The Dead Lands and The Pale Door. In 2019, the executive producer for Creepshow, Greg Nicotero, said the following:

We’re paying tribute to the horror comics of the ’50s and ’60s. hese guys in the ’50s were really pushing the envelope by creating these comic books that were just a little more violent, a little sexier, a little scarier than people could handle at the time, and they became controversial. But it was those comics that inspired Stephen King, that inspired George Romero.

Creepshow originated as a horror anthology film in 1982, directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King. The TV series premiered on Shudder in 2019. Earlier this year, the Shudder streaming service confirmed that the show will be returning for a fourth season.

Creepshow Miniseries At Skybound Entertainment

Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Invincible) created Skybound Entertainment in 2010. Additionally, there are a number of horror and supernatural titles. The Walking Dead, Haunt, and The Astounding Wolfman call Skybound their home, making the publisher a perfect fit. The five-issue Creepshow miniseries will follow the TV show’s lead and be an anthology series as well. Several big names in comics will work on the miniseries. A few are as follows:

  • Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series)
  • Chris Burnham (Die!Die!Die!)
  • Steve Langford (Creepshow TV show)
  • David and Maria Lapham (Stray Bullets)
  • Steve Foxe (Razorblades: The Horror Magazine)
  • Josh Malerman (Creepshow TV show, Bird Box)
  • Kelley Jones (Batman, The Sandman)
  • John Mcrea (Hitman)

Creepshow’s executive producer, Greg Nicotero, had nothing but praise for the series ending up at Skybound.

Growing up a fan of horror comics and Famous Monsters, I will never forget the thrill of seeing a new issue hit the stands … thumbing through the pages with the anticipation of diving into a dark twisted and outrageous world filled with ghouls, zombies and the classic comeuppance. I’m very proud to see Creepshow find its rightful place on comic book shelves everywhere!

Jon Moisan went on to say:

Creepshow has consistently been one of the best things in horror for the last 40 years, and for Skybound to be able to carry on such a rich horror tradition is an absolute thrill. We knew a franchise this prolific would require the best talent in the industry, so we assembled a collection of creators that will do the Creepshow name proud. The stories they have planned are going to scare the absolute hell out of people.”
