A PlayStation 3 port of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released, on the PlayStation Store, this past Tuesday.Virtually no major announcement was made regarding this significant release.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was remastered for mobile devices back in 2013, and the Xbox 360 port, which is the latest version of the game, received a port of the mobile version, rather than a full-on remaster. The 360 version had a vast list of problems following its’ initial release. Problems were, but not limited to, vocal audio drops during cutscenes and stuttering after you hit the start button. You can check out the entire list of problems here.

The PlayStation 3 version also has trophies added onto it, and the Trickster achievement has been replaced with a Platinum trophy.

The timing of this stealthy release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is very interesting, given the rumors of a PlayStation 2 emulation for the PlayStation 4. The cardinal rule of emulation is simplicity when it comes to emulating games two generations older.

PlayStation Experience is just ahead this weekend. PS Users may be in for a treat, then, if Sony decides to announce PS2 emulation for specific games for the PS4 at the press conference. It would be a very big deal if several PlayStation 2 GTA games were made available to play on the PlayStation 4.

Stay tuned to The Nerd Stash all weekend long for our coverage of PlayStation Experience! And, of course, all your gaming news.
