Disney canceled the Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff film that would have starred Margot Robbie. Plans for the fantasy swashbuckler franchise spinoff were announced back in June 2020. Christina Hodson, the screenwriter for Birds of Prey, was the writer for the film. Margot Robbie said regarding the dead Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff film:

We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool. But I guess they don’t want to do it.”

Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced all the Pirates of the Caribbean films, was even attached to the fantasy swashbuckler franchise film spinoff. Bruckheimer spoke to The Sunday Times last May and said the films were still happening. Things have certainly changed since then.

Margot Robbie is Not Hurting for Roles

Margot Robbie won't be in the fantasy swashbuckler film, but she's doing just fine.

After her role in The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie became a star. At first, it was more for her looks, but after roles in I, Tonya, and Suicide Squad, audiences know she’s talented. Margot Robbie got an Oscar nomination for her role in I, Tonya. She will be in the upcoming and highly anticipated films Barbie and Babylon. The cancellation of the Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff film will not slow down the actor’s career. The future of the fantasy swashbuckler franchise is uncertain, but Robbie’s future is looking very bright. Robbie was excited about the development of the Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff, but its cancellation could be a blessing in disguise since the development is in murky waters. Margot Robbie has become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable and sought-after actors. Her production company LuckyChap Entertainment has produced award-winning projects as well.

She has come a long way since starring in the Australian soap opera series Neighbours. Her acting talents have shown through her many film roles over the last decade. There will be many other projects after this discontinued project. Robbie won’t be in the fantasy swashbuckler franchise spinoff film, but it’s Disney’s loss.
