To learn how to surf in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you need to choose the right storyline. From the three different storylines in the game, focus on the legends storyline where you have to hunt down the Titans with Arvin.

You should complete the first quest, “The Search for the Open Sky Titan.” This quest pits you up against a gigantic Bombirdier. Despite its size, it’s pretty straightforward to beat.

As soon as this white flappy bird faints, you’ll get a call from Professor Turo.

Through a cutscene, he will say that Miraidon has “regained some of its original power.” You’ll be given an upgrade with the ability to swim or surf across the water.
