This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

Focus Blast is a Special Fighting-type Move in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that can inflict 120 Power with 70 Accuracy on a single opponent. This attack also has a slight chance of reducing the target’s Special Defense by one stage, making it highly effective when used on Normal-, Ice-, Rock-, Steel-, and Dark-type pocket monsters. While there are no Pokémon that know Focus Blast innately or can learn it through leveling up, dozens of monsters can learn this Special Fighting-type Move through its TM. These pocket monsters include Koraidon, Armarouge, Pawmot, Gholdengo, Scream Tail, and Iron Hands.

Finding and Crafting the Focus Blast TM in Scarlet & Violet

Finding the Location of the TM 158 Focus Blast in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in Alfornada

The Focus Blast TM recipe in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is in an easy-to-find location within the town of Alfornada in Area Six of the South Province. However, newcomers must keep in mind that they will likely not visit Alfornada until they have reached Level 45 with their roster, as the Psychic Gym Leader Tulip’s Team Level is 45.

Based on gameplay footage recorded by Scarlet & Violet content creator GameLoc, below is a list of steps required to reach the location of the Focus Blast TM recipe:

  • Step 1: Travel to the Alfornada Pokécenter.
  • Step 2: Head eastward down the town’s main street, passing Every Wich Way, the Seabreeze Café, and Artisan Bakery.
  • Step 3: Take the left path before the Alfornada Gym and follow the winding pathway to the roof.
  • Step 4: On the ninth circular platform of this path, Trainers will encounter a yellow Poké Ball.
  • Step 5: Use Koraidon or Miraidon to jump onto this platform and loot the Ball to receive the Focus Blast TM.

After finding the Focus Blast TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers can craft the recipe by visiting a Pokécenter and spending the following resources at the TM Machine:

Materials Source Locations
Meditite Sweat × 3
  • Both Meditite and Medicham can be found in the area surrounding the town of Alfornada. Meditite also appears in West Province (Area Two), north of the Asado Desert.
Impidimp Hair × 3
  • The Tagtree Thicket is the primary location where Trainers will encounter Impidimp and Morgrem.
Flamigo Down × 5
  • Flamigo can be found near water sources located on the northern, eastern, western, and southern corners of the Paldea map.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
