Paradox Pokemon like Walking Wake are a must-have. On looks alone, it’s cool (and somewhat intimidating) to go about your day with this massive pocket monster by your side. If you want to catch Walking Wake in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you must participate in the limited-time Tera Raid Battle event. This is the second time trainers can get this Paradox Pokemon, but it’s unclear if they’ll show up in an event in the future. So, if you didn’t catch Walking Wake the first time around, you have a second chance to jump into battle with your best Pokemon.
Best Pokemon for Walking Wake
Walking Wake’s second appearance in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet kicked off on December 24, 2023, in 5-star Tera Raid Battles. You have until January 4, 2024, at 3:59 PM (PST) to participate. As a version-exclusive pocket monster, Walking Wake is only available for those who play Scarlet.
You can only have one Walking Wake per save file. So, if you were lucky enough to get the Paradox Pokemon on its first appearance, you cannot catch a second one. Instead, you can participate in the Tera Raid Battles for extra rewards. Or you can join your fellow Pokemon Scarlet trainers and help them get the opportunity to catch Walking Wake.
Walking Wake Stats in Pokemon Scarlet
When you face off against Walking Wake in Pokemon Scarlet, the pocket monster has the following base stats:
- HP: 99
- Attack: 83
- Defense: 91
- Special Attack: 125
- Special Defense: 83
- Speed: 109
Something to remember, though: since this is a 5-star Tera Raid Battle, you’re up against a high-level Walking Wake. Consider bringing Pokemon at least Level 80 to stand a chance in the fight. We honestly recommend even higher just so that you have as little difficulty as possible to clear Walking Wake in battle in Pokemon Scarlet.
Walking Wake Team Up and Counters
Walking Wake is a Water/Dragon-type Pokemon that can hit pretty hard if you let it, especially as it usually casts Sunny Day as its first move, which greatly improves its abilities. One of the best things you can do to survive the battle is to bring Pokemon that can resist the Water-type moves and damage Walking Wake. Electric-type Pokemon are ideal in this situation.
A great Pokemon to counter Walking Wake is Iron Hands. As a Violet exclusive, you can only take advantage of using Iron Hands if someone trades with you. However, a Raichu around Level 90-100 can also deal tremendous damage against Walking Wake and take it out. Any other high-level Electric-type Pokemon should do the same.
Of course, Walking Wake is weak to Dragon, and Fairy-type moves as well. But having an Electric-type covers all your bases to conclude the fight in a shorter amount of time and help you catch the Paradox Pokemon. Just remember to get into the Raids fast, as they don’t last long.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is available on Nintendo Switch.
