The Dark- and Flying-type Darkness Pokémon Murkrow can be a tricky opponent to counter in Pokémon GO if you don’t know the optimal pocket monsters to take advantage of its weaknesses. Whether facing this Johto crow-style bird in a One-Star Raid or in a Shadow encounter against a Team GO Rocket Grunt, understanding its vulnerabilities is necessary for winning. If you are familiar with Murkrow’s evolution, Honchkrow, the same weaknesses apply since this fowl’s elemental dual-type characteristic does not change after it evolves. Continue reading to learn more about the weaknesses of Murkrow and its best counters in Pokémon GO.

As noted above, Murkrow is a Dark- and Flying-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO, making it weak to Rock-, Electric-, Fairy-, and Ice-type Moves. The rival you choose to confront this crow-like Darkness Pokémon does not necessarily have to be one of these four elemental types, but its Moveset must contain one of the Move types to defeat Murkrow.

Pokebattler states that Rock- and Electric-type Moves deal the most damage against Murkrow in Pokemon GO, while Ice- and Fairy-type attacks offer less DPS but are just as effective regarding the bird’s counter weaknesses. While you could argue Legendary or Shadow Pokémon picks are the best competitors for Murkrow’s evolution Honchkrow, such rare and powerful monsters aren’t necessary to defeat this weak target. Below, we have put together an index of ideal counters for Murkrow based on Pokebattler’s suggestions. While the index does display the final evolution of a specific pocket monster, do note that any evolutions prior to the creature’s final form are also viable counters for Murkrow.
