In the game, the characters have an accident and end up stranded on a deserted island. Well, so it seems at first, although in reality, it is full of mutants and cannibals. But that does not mean that the players don’t have some protection. There are camps, plane crashes, and enemy villages where they can find all kinds of handy items. In Sons of the Forest, weapons are probably the best option, but solar panels are crucial if you want to protect yourself from the threats of the island.

The reality is that solar panels are not a craftable item within Sons of the Forest. But you can find this item in several locations around the island. Search in military crates and inside the bunkers. So, while exploring, don’t hesitate to take the solar panels with you, as you can use them to light your bases and structures, such as creating an electric fence. But to use the energy from the panels, you also need wire and lightbulbs.

How to Use the Solar Panels

You need to find a way to place the solar panels and enjoy the electrical power at your base. In Sons of the Forest, you must plan well how to build the electrical circuit for each solar panel you place. But you must consider these points when building:

  • You must place the solar panels on a structure. It can be a basic square log base or on top of the base you have built before. It should be a flat base, but it doesn’t matter if it is sloped.
  • The panels do not need to be connected if you need them for a small circuit, such as a few light bulbs. But if you build a huge electric fence, you will require more electric power, so you must connect the circuit with more panels. If your circuit is not working, place the necessary power supplies.
  • Do not place the panels in the shade.
  • The panels can save a certain amount of power for the night. It also depends on how much energy is consumed by the connected circuit.

To create an electric fence in Sons of the Forest, build a fence with wood, surround it with wire, and connect it to the solar panel. Many players have taken advantage of being able to generate electric energy for this type of protection. Another way is to light up “landmarks” to help navigate the map, see if enemies are nearby, or mark the way to your base.
