Do you want to learn how to add some shock-resistant Voltfruit to your inventory in Tears of the Kingdom? Shock could very well be the strongest element in TotK. Thunder Gleeoks and Lynels could easily be labeled as some of the most formidable opponents in the game. And let’s not even get started with mighty Moluga! If you want to go up against these big bad guys, you must stock up on Voltfruit, which grants shock resistance.

Voltfruit grows in the arid Gerudo Desert. To find it, head into this hot area and look for the green cacti growing there. Most of them will have one or two Voltfruit growing on top. Sure, some can have none, but don’t be discouraged; Cacti are pretty common around this area.ย

Unfortunately, the Cacti are tall, or Link is a short king, so you might have to jump to reach some Voltfruit. If you don’t feel like reaching up, you can also use Link’s Ultrahand ability to grab Voltfruit in Tears of the Kingdomย and drop it on the ground. It’s OK; no one’s around to call you out on your laziness anyway.

Remember that the Gerudo Desert is plagued by a constant sandstorm at the start of the game, so you might want to stick to the areas closer to Kara Kara Bazaar to find your cacti. Also, don’t forget that the desert’s heat makes Link dizzy, and he’ll start losing hearts if you don’t bring some heat-resistant meal or get two parts of the Desert Voe Outfit.

When you’ve gathered enough Voltfruit โ€” or your heat-resistant elixir has run out โ€” return to Kara Kara Bazaar. Here, you can use the cooking pot next to the General Store to make your shock-resistant meals. Here are some of our favorite recipes:

  • Electro Simmered Fruit

Ingredients: 1 Voltfruit

This simple recipe provides 2:30 minutes of shock resistance and restores one heart.

  • Electro Simmered Fruit +

Ingredients: 1 Voltfruit + HylianRice/Bird Egg

Mixing the Voltfruit in Tears of the Kingdomย with another ingredient gives you the same result but with a longer-lasting effect.

  • Electro Milk

Ingredients: 2 Voltfruit + Fresh Milk

This stronger recipe restores five hearts and provides shock resistance for almost 9 minutes.

Tears of the Kingdomย is available on the Nintendo Switch.
