The Broken Blade of Cunning is the third and final item needed to begin the exotic quest, which lets you obtain the Wicked Implement Scout Rifle. To get the Broken Blade of Cunning, you will have to catch the Aeonian Alpha-Betta in Destiny 2 Season 21. The Exotic Fish can be found in the Outskirts area of EDZ. Just look around the southern coast area to find the pond and mingle with other Guardians there. You will want to fill the Focused Fishing meter to increase your chance of obtaining it.

If you managed to fish out the Exotic Fish, check the Fishing Tackle in your inventory. Hover over your Bait. A “Broken Blades have been claimed from EDZ, Throne World, and Nessus” message should be added to the item description. Now, enter a Deep Dive and complete the First Encounter. Progress through the large fan and coral caves until you reach the shelf overlooking a coral-filled area. Don’t jump down the door, though; instead, walk along the shelf. You will eventually stumble upon the third Hive Thrall statue. Give the Broken Blade of Cunning and listen to Xivu Arath’s dialogue to finish the quest line.

In summary, here’s what you need to do to get and use the Broken Blade of Cunning in Destiny 2:

  • First, catch all three Exotic Fishes during Season of the Deep:
    • Whispering Mothcarp: Misama Region, Throne World.
    • Vexing Placoderm: The Cistern, Nessus.
    • Aeonian Alpha-Betta: Outskirts, EDZ.
  • Then run a Deep Dive Activity.
  • Offer each Broken Blade item at three different Hive statues:
    • Broken Blade of Strife: Drop down into the methane sea. Unlock the door using the console. Drop down from the broken platform into the coral area. Head to the right tunnel and take the right again. Drop down again to find the statue.
    • Broken Blade of Ambition: Complete the First Encounter and get out of Ahsa’s area. Look to your left to find a now-opened door.
    • Broken Blade of Cunning: Complete the First Encounter and run through the coral caves. Walk along the shelf to find the statue.
  • Start and complete the time-limited “Path of Violence” Exotic Quest.
