Remnant 2 has great character customization options when you are starting out. You don’t have to pick your archetype yet but you can configure features like scars, hairstyle, and eye color. You’re able to make your character look like you or go with a different appearance entirely. If you choose to play through the tutorial, you also get a chance to admire your character and even take photos. But after playing for some time, you might have second thoughts about your character’s appearance. Maybe that tattoo wasn’t the smartest choice now that you thought about it. Is changing your character’s appearance in Remnant 2 possible or are you stuck with what you get? Let’s explain.

Unfortunately, changing the facial features, markings, and hairstyle isn’t possible right now. When you confirm what your character looks like, you are stuck with that face and hair for the rest of the game. You can always delete that character and start over, but that’s not what most players have in mind. Thankfully, you aren’t entirely locked in when it comes to external appearance.

When you choose your archetype at the beginning of the game, you have a choice between the following archetypes:

  • Medic
  • Hunter
  • Challenger
  • Gunslinger
  • Handler

Taking on any archetype will give you the equipment required for the class. Your initial tutorial appearance will change based on what you chose, with the outfit reflecting your capabilities. In some cases, such as the Challenger, you won’t be able to see your facial features. The good news is that you are not permanently stuck with a single archetype for the rest of the game. As you progress through the story and unlock new worlds, you will gain access to new classes. They have their own skills and equipment, but also their own appearances.

Archetypes such as the Alchemist and the Engineer are not available at the start. These are classes you will unlock later throughout your journey. You can also freely switch between the default archetypes in the beginning, changing your external appearance that way. You can’t change your facial features right now, but there are several options for changing your clothes. Choose a class that reflects your personal style or a class whose combat you enjoy. That’s the best you will get when it comes to changing appearances right now. There may be changes in the future, but switching your outfit is a great start for modifying your appearance.
