Baldur’s Gate 3 launched just over a week ago but Larian Studios‘ epic fantasy RPG has already racked up some awe-inspiring stats which truly cements it as a generation-defining title. In a community update posted to Steam, Larian Studios revealed Baldur’s Gate 3’s crowning achievement. In its launch weekend, the game racked up a total playtime of 10 million hours which equates to 1,225 years. For context, that’s over a millennium’s worth of playtime.

The developer went on to express the “profound joy” the team experienced over the launch period and reiterated its commitment to tackling bugs that are popping up in the game.  A roadmap has been put in place for the team to refer to internally and the first patch is seemingly on the way with plenty of tweaks and fixes that will continue to improve players’ experience with the game. All the hotfixes applied to Baldur’s Gate 3 will also be implemented to the PlayStation 5 port of the game ahead of its launch next month.

Somehow, 368 players managed to complete the game’s lengthy campaign in its opening weekend and over 93% of players rolled a custom character to play as in their journey. To call the game’s character creation in-depth would be an understatement as shown by the 88 years players spent crafting their character. Of the game’s established heroes, Gale was by far the most popular to play as and beat the five other origin characters for the top spot.

Paladin was by far the most popular class for players while Cleric was considered to be the least popular. The majority of players also played through Baldur’s Gate 3 as a Half-Elf. The canine companion Scratch has been petted 750,000 times and 2,400,000 animals have been spoken to.
