Bungie has announced that Keith David is the new voice of Zavala in Destiny 2. Zavala is one of the most important characters in the story and lore of Destiny 2 which was portrayed by Lance Reddick. Unfortunately, we lost Reddick a couple of months ago due to his health condition and his recorded lines for Zavala were his last work.

Keith David, born on June 4, 1956, is one of the most talented actors and voice actors we’ve seen. His most notable works are They Live, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and the voice of Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog animation.
Keith David has won three Emmys for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance and Narrative for Unforgivable Blackness (2005), The War (2008), and Jackie Robinson (2016). Since the character of Zavala also serves as someone who tells stories and guides characters, Keith David was the best choice for him.
After the unexpected death of Lance Reddick, Bungie built a monument in Destiny 2 for the deceased actor where many players went and paid tribute. By choosing Keith David, Bungie not only respected the character of Zavala and what an amazing job Reddick has done, but also respected the experience of players by bringing such a talented and experienced actor.
His latest work was on Justified: City Primeval where he played Judge Alvin Guy and his next project is a horror thriller called All Fun and Games starring Asa Butterfield from Sex Education and Natalia Dyer from The Stranger Things.
This is by no means David’s first video game appearance. He was the voice of David Andreson in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11, and Arbiter in the Halo series.
