It turns out Rosymorn is about more than just drunken Kobold parties. When you first approach the area around the Rosymorn Monastery in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must fight and defeat the Ancient Giant Eagle. While taking down the Eagle could be avoided, it’s necessary to complete the Stained Glass Puzzle and obtain the Dawnmaster’s Crest. Like most DnD beasts, however, the Ancient Eagle isn’t eager to let the Dark Urge mess with its feathers or its nest. Here’s how to defeat the Ancient Giant Eagle in Baldur’s Gate 3.

To find the Giant Eagles, you should first make your way to the Rosymorn Monastery. From there, climb into the window to the left of the door that is impossible to lockpick at the main entrance. There, you’ll find yourself surrounded by drunk Kobolds. They’ll be pretty easy to take down.

Once you’ve cleared the area of Kobolds, head up the stairs in the back of the room, and jump over to the rock near the ledge. From there, you should climb up the vines and look for the large magic device. Just to the left of the giant device, you will see an Ancient Giant Eagle standing in a nest in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, one more Giant Eagle will be standing to the right of the giant device.

Felling these feathered foes isn’t awful, but the fight can go sideways fast. Once your battle with the Giant Eagles begins, you should focus on the largest eagle, the Ancient Giant Eagle. Whenever the Ancient Giant Eagle is not engaged in combat, it will call for help, and more Giant Eagles will appear, making the battle much more difficult.ย Here are some more tips to get you through intact:

  • The Ancient Giant Eagle has a weakness to fire
  • Alchemist’s Fire and fire arrows can help if you don’t have fire spells
  • Use paralysis spells to prevent the Giant Eagles from flying

Once you’ve defeated the Ancient Giant Eagle in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can collect Eagle Feathers from each of their bodies. You should also head to the eagle nest and collect one of Rosymorn’s Ceremonial weapons, the Ceremonial Warhammer. At least you won’t have to beat the Guardian of Faith for this one. Eagle Feathers are a crucial ingredient for Potions of Flying, so you might see more than your XP soar after this fight.
