If history has taught us anything, it is that any Bethesda game launches as a playground for modders to improve upon many systems of these titles. Considering Skyrim and Fallout have some of the most dedicated modding communities, we all knew Starfield wouldn’t be an exception. While we already have some fantastic mods that optimize the game and others that add cosmetics or change the look of certain armor, others are looking for ways to take modding to infinity and beyond. A new mod by user WeirdConcern4666 allows players to fly in space and even build outposts on the many asteroids of Starfield.
New Starfield Mod Lets You Fly in Space and Build Outposts on Asteroids
Go out of your ship to the space

More than an actual mod, Reddit user WeirdConcern4666 found a way through Starfield’s console commands to fly in space and build outposts in asteroids. This is already great as it shows the developers put the framework for something there. The way this ‘mod’ works is by using the following commands on the game’s console:
- player.setpos x 10
- setgravityscale 0
To make it work, you need to input these commands while in the cockpit of your ship, not when controlling the ship, though. This will allow you to fly in space and explore some asteroids. To return, take out your scanner and aim at your ship to get back in; after that, input the ‘setgravityscale 1’ command.

While this is possible through the console commands, we imagine there’ll be a dedicated mod that will allow you to fly appropriately in space and build outposts on asteroids in Starfield down the line. Given how the official mod tools are coming next year, we might see an influx of mods of different types. In the meantime, there’s a lot you can add to your game to make it better, from performance improvements to new armor and weapons.
