One of the primary missions in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is Firestarter. Throughout Firestarter, you can play as Aurore Cassel, get on Kurt Hansen’s good side, and finally access the Neural Matrix. You’ll be spending some time driving and delicately navigating your way through some sketchy conversation. You’ll get to work with Songbird and make an important choice. Will you try to escape and work with Songbird in Cyberpunk 2077, or will you go the other route and help Reed try to capture her? The Firestarter mission in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libery will make you think quite a bit. Are you ready to make that choice?
Drive To The Stadium To Begin Firestarter
As you hop in your car and take off, Alex will give you a quick refresher. He reminds you that your name is Aurore Cassel, and you must play your part well to pull off this job. What does Aurore Cassel fear? What does she want? What is her deepest secret? You must contemplate these things while you make your way to the stadium.
Shortly after the short dialogue with Alex about becoming Aurore Cassel, you approach the first choice you must make in Firestarter. Alex asks you what your thoughts on Hansen are. You can answer however you want.
Wait For Vehicle ID Verification
You must navigate through a dimly-lit parking garage at the Hound’s Den in Firestarter. At the waypoint toward the end of the garage, you’ll approach a Dogtown resident who tells you to stop your vehicle and prepare to have it inspected. This portion of the job only requires you to sit and wait for a few seconds. The Dogtown resident will eventually tell you you can head through the gate safely.
Park the Car and Follow Alex
Park your car in the area marked by a waypoint. At this point, Alex will explain the job a bit more clearly. You are here to sell Hansen the Cynosure mainframe access codes, not to get anything in return from him. At this point, you have two choices, though both result in you exiting the car. Whichever you choose doesn’t make a difference.
Exit the car and head inside the Hound’s Den, following close behind Alex. Some guards will stop you at the door, but Murphy will soon allow you access.
Follow Murphy and Talk to Kurt Hansen
As you enter the door, you come face to face with Murphy and some new dialogue options:
- “Lead the way.”
- “You look nervous.”
Choosing to tell Murphy he looks nervous will result in you flirting with him a bit, as Aurore would. After the flirting, you can ask Murphy to lead the way. Follow him to Hansen.
At this point, you should pay close attention to your file on Aurore Cassel. Murphy will begin asking some questions about who you are. Luckily, this time, Alex takes over and answers all his questions.
Before you head inside, Murphy lets you know that there’s been some trouble. He tells you that the whole stadium is under surveillance and you must leave your weapons outside. Interact with a locket to deposit your weapons inside it.
Before you can process, Murphy makes you stop once more for another ID scan. The scan only takes a few seconds. Once inside the door, you get a chance to gain some intel on the whole operation by asking Murphy questions, comparing his weapon selling to a car salesman.
As you inch closer to Hansen under Murphy’s guidance, Reed will let you know that he’s in position and your evac route is in preparation. The next step gets you much closer to completing Firestarter in Cyberpunk 2077.
Talk to Kurt Hansen.
As you approach Hansen, he’ll let you know that you have some time to chat since Songbird needs more time to disarm the device. He’ll direct you to a table where you can sit near him. This conversation will require you to make several choices, so stay in character and check the info on Aurore Cassel as often as you need.
As you sit down, you approach your first dialogue choice:
- “We are not in a hurry.”
- “The FIA knows about our meeting?”
If you plan to stay in character, you should tell Kurt you are in no hurry. He’ll need clarification about why you’re conducting business hungover and ask if it’s a regular occurrence.
To stay in character, you should say it is your first time. Move closer and touch Kurt. Your next choice will accompany a toast to a successful day of business. Hansen pours three shots.
We suggest saying “Well said” and taking the drink from the Colonel. Aymeric will decline his shot to stay in character, and you can also choose to take his drink. Don’t take Amyeric’s drink.
Continue picking the suitable dialogue options to stay in character as Aurore Cassel:
- “We lost it all.”
- If you lost to the twins, choose the other possible answer for this one.
- “A mutual friend?”
- “We were in different blocks.”
- “Why did you switch sides?”
- “Kerry Eurodyne’s tailor.”
- “The arms trade is not for us.”
- “Impossible”
Speak with Songbird and Make Your Choice
Songbird will arrive, announcing that the time to begin has begun. One of you is to feed the access codes, while the other is to stay with Hansen. Alex will stay behind, allowing you to get your time with Songbird. Songbird will escort you to the room with the Neural Matrix. Here, you should speak with Songbird, choosing the following replies:
- “A lot of people are gonna die…”
- “Home stretch.”
- “Let’s begin.”
- “Am I doin’ alright?”
- “The system is responding.”
Now, you must choose whether to help Songbird escape or help Reed capture Songbird.
Help Reed Capture Songbird
Respond with “One more second…” and choose to help Reed capture Songbird in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. This choice will begin the Icebreaker uploading process and lead you to a boss fight.
The icebreaker will get through to Songbird, incapacitating her. After she speaks with you for a moment, she will kill Alex, and you will wake up with Johnny. Speak with him to progress further through Firestarter in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Escape the Secured Area
Head through the debris to the waypoint. Crouch under the half-closed door, picking up loot on the way and taking out the Dogtown residents with your newly acquired weapons. Remember to retrieve your gear from the locker on your way.
Now, reach the market exit and escape the market. This will feel like the first portion of your escape, with plenty of enemies along the way. You must neutralize Hansen and his soldiers.
During the first half of your fight with Hansen, you shouldn’t have too hard of a time staying ahead. Try to keep your distance as often as possible so he can’t use melee attacks against you.
Once you reach the second half of the fight, Hansen begins to dash throughout the area, trying to close the distance between you. Dodging and dashing are useful for this part of the fight. Time Hansen’s knife attacks, and watch out for his ground slam. Watch your health, and be careful.
Once you finish the fight, you can escape with Reed and witness Songbird being captured in Cyberpunk 2077.
Help Songbird Escape
If you side with and save Songbird, the ending of Firestarter in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty plays out differently.
Alex will kill Kurt Hansen, leaving you to escape with Songbird. Songbird will hack the entire stadium while you give Alex the signal.
Reed will quickly realize that you sided with Songbird, so you’ll need to pick up any weapons you can while you attempt to escape the secured area with Songbird in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. You’ll have a pretty decent gunfight ahead of you to slice through Hansen and Reed’s men, but you can pick all your weapons back up to make it a bit easier.
Songbird will open the door for you, and the fight will begin. Be sure to watch your health and dodge bullets whenever possible. Throughout this process, Songbird can hack different items throughout the area, making your fight easier.
Make your way to the Market Exit with Songbird in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and finally escape the stadium with her. Before you leave, you will have to clear a path for yourself by moving crates and utilizing the maintenance shaft. The residents in the maintenance shaft won’t hurt you, so there’s no need to fight here. Finally, escape through the sewer grate and escape with Songbird after you lead her out of the homeless camp.
