Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is an ideal multiplayer game to play with your friends online. After spending a year as a PC exclusive, the game has finally moved over to consoles. However, does Warhammer 40K Darktide support crossplay or cross-platform functionality? The answer is essentially yes, but there are a few details you should be aware of. Let’s explain.
Warhammer 40K Darktide launched as a PC exclusive on November 30, 2022. The title eventually launched on the Xbox Series X|S on October 4. Unfortunately, the game isn’t available on the Xbox One, and there are no words on it coming to PlayStation. Darktide is currently an Xbox-exclusive title.
- With the move to Xbox, can you play Darktide with your PC friends on your Series X|S with cross-platform functionality?
- The answer is yes. Warhammer 40K Darktide supports crossplay/cross-platform, allowing you to play the game with your friends no matter the hardware.
- Can you also use the same saved file on your Xbox console with your PC with the cross-progression in Darktide?
- The answer is currently no. We’ve not been able to share our saved files between our PC and Xbox hardware, even when we use the same gaming account.
As a reminder, crossplay also allows you to play multiplayer with friends who purchased Darktide on different storefronts. For example, you could have the game on Steam, whereas your friend has it on the Microsoft Store. Even if you both play the game on PC, without cross-platform functionality, you wouldn’t be able to play the game together.
