Warhammer 40,000: Darktide offers robust character customization, allowing you to decide your Reject’s appearance, childhood, and homeworld. All the customization options are based on the Warhammer lore, as the game’s narrative takes place in the same universe of 40k. With such a diverse selection, it’s easy to think that your decisions would directly influence your playthrough with potential benefits or hindrances. With eight planets to choose from, which homeworld is the best for you in Warhammer 40K Darktide, and does it matter?

Each of the eight potential homeworld options in Warhammer 40K Darktide has its own backstory and history, offering you different flavors to give your character. All homeworld selections are within the Moebian Domain, the main region of space within Darktide.

  • Crucis: This planet is a large shrine and a popular location for pilgrimages.

  • Messelina Glorianna: This planet is a heavily forested moon. It’s a minor shrine world and is strategically important.
  • Rocyria: The backward planet, Rocyria is home to a lot of farmland and mass-harvested crops. Despite their reputation from other people in the galaxy, people from Rocyria are hard-working and honest.

  • Branx Magna: This is the most heavily populated planet within the Moebian Domain. Branx Magna is the most industrial world you can be born in.

  • Cadia: This homeworld is actually no longer a planet but a cluster of meteors floating in space. Cadia used to be one of the most infamous fortress planets but fell at the beginning of the Dark Imperium.

  • Mornax: A small mining world that’s populated by hardened and serious people.

  • Pavane: The homeworld that looks the most like Earth, Pavane is a relatively new colonized planet. It is rich in natural resources.

What Is the Best Homeworld for You?

While other decisions you make in the character creation affect your playthrough, your homeworld does not. Your birthplace doesn’t matter to the story or affect gameplay in Warhammer 40K Darktide.

The most that your homeworld adds to the game is the dialogue. Many character lines will differ depending on where you were born. None of the dialogue is significant other than Cadia, which gives you access to information about the lost planet that can help enrich your Reject’s narrative. Picking Cadia also gives you more character voice selection. That said, choose whichever planet looks the most appealing to you.

The best homeworld for you is whatever planet looks the most appealing to you.

Warhammer 40K Darktide is a first-person shooter developed by Fatshark and available on Xbox Series S|X and PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam.
