Zack Snyder, director of the upcoming Justice League film, revealed a single image today of the Caped Crusader with a brand new look. According to Snyder’s Twitter post, today was the final day of shooting Batman scenes.

This is the first time we have seen the newest Batman’s tactical armor, marking it a fresh look at the series. In the picture, Ben Affleck wears a heavily protective suit, complete with goggles. Also, he appears to be standing next to a sparking Batmobile.

Currently, Justice League is finishing shooting in London. In addition, the film has also revealed a few images of Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

After the teased image was released, many fans noted that Batman’s new goggles look very similar to those worn by Night Owl. Night Owl is part of the Watchmen comics. In fact, he is a character who models himself after the Dark Knight in several ways. They are both based off of nighttime flying animals, rely on their own strength and intelligence to fight crime, and have a lot of high-tech gear. Ironically enough, Snyder also directed the Watchmen 2009 film, which included Night Owl in his classic goggles. Perhaps Snyder is drawing some of the current character design from this past work.

Affleck debuted his version of Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. And his appearance in Justice League promises not be the last of this Dark Knight. Affleck also stars in the Batman own standalone film scheduled for full release in a few years. Justice League releases in theaters on November 16, 2017.
