When you play Fortnite Battle Royale, you may always want to organize your inventory a certain way. Every player has a different preference on where they want specific items placed in their inventory. Fortunately, Fortnite has a feature known as Preferred Item Slots that allows you to customize your inventory layout. This feature allows you to customize your item slots, and when you loot items during the game, they will automatically go to their specific slots.

You can customize your Preferred Item Slots in Fortnite from settings. Below are the steps you need to follow.

  1. Go to the settings and click on the second tab with the configure wheel.
  2. Scroll down and select the configure button next to Preferred Item Slots under the Combat section.
  3. Switch On the feature and select the items you like for each slot.

There are five Preferred Item slots in Fortnite; for each slot, you can select Assault Gun, Shotgun, SMG, Pistol, Sniper, Bow, Launcher, Utility, and Consumable Items.

Why Preferred Item Slots Are Helpful

When you use Preferred Item Slots In Fortnite, it makes inventory management a lot easier. It is beneficial when you are in an intense battle. After you organize the slots as you like, you do not have to worry about how they are stored in your inventory. You can experiment with different options and select the most preferred option according to your play style.

For example, you can organize your first slot as an Assault Rifle, the second slot for a Shotgun or SMG, and the third for healing items like Medkits or Bandages. Then, keep the fourth and fifth slots for Granades and other items. It will be much easier for you to switch between items, especially if you are playing with the controller.

Fortnite added Preferred Item Slots sometime back; however, many players still do not benefit from it. But, it is worth knowing about it and getting the maximum out of the feature.
