One of the best things about combat in the recent Insomniac titles is finishers. These amazing moves let you take down most enemies spectacularly with the push of two buttons. Due to that, many people are excited to see if this mechanic returned in the third entry of the Insomniac Spider-Man series. The good news is that it did, and they look better than ever. So, if you want to know how to perform finishers in Spider-Man 2, we’ve prepared a guide to tell you all the details.
Spider-Man 2: How To Use Finishers
Finishers work precisely the same as in previous titles, with the difference being new moves and animations when defeating foes. This is what you must do to activate a finisher while in combat:
- Fill up your focus bar by attacking enemies.
- When you have one full bar, press Triangle and Circle simultaneously to perform a finisher.
- Pressing Triangle and Circle with two Focus bars will allow you to defeat brute-type enemies.
- Bosses can also be heavily damaged with a two-bar finisher, but they won’t be defeated instantly.
The great thing about this system is that it’s quite intuitive and takes little time to show up in the game. Plus, the good side of using finishers is getting rid of certain annoying enemies while you fight off the horde of villains attacking any of the Spider-Men.
Can You Unlock More Finishers?
So far, there’s no way to unlock new animations or different finishers. Like in previous titles, the game already has the finishers ready, and they change occasionally during fights. Yes, it’d be nice to have more to unlock, but the team at Insomniac has done a great job making flashy moves for our Spider-Men duo.
Now that you know how to use finishers in Spider-Man 2, remember to build your focus bar to activate them. They are a great way to eliminate some of the most challenging foes, like ranged ones pestering our Spideys or even brute ones who are relentless in this game. And yes, there’s a wide variety of foes this time, meaning you’ll likely want to focus on the toughest ones to make combat much more manageable.
And if you’d like to see Spider-Man in a new light, here’s a video from our team showcasing a suit from an upcoming game, also being developed by Insomniac. Many even think this might be an easter egg for the upcoming superhero’s suit.
