The sequel to the legendary Alan Wake comes with unique gameplay and an absorbing story. You are asked to choose one of three different difficulty settings when you first start the game. Although it may not seem like a big deal, these difficulty settings completely change how you play the game. Alan Wake 2 has three different difficulty settings – Story, Normal, and Hard. You will be asked to choose one of them once you start the game. We advise that you do not just choose one because all settings change the game greatly. So, let’s look at all the differences:

  • Story

The story mode does not put much pressure on you in combat and has very simple gameplay. Story mode focuses on narrative and mystery-solving. That’s why combat is not very challenging. Your weapons deal high damage, and you do not die easily. You can upgrade your weapons more easily than other modes and find resources without much searching. This difficulty setting is ideal for players who want to play Alan Wake 2 just for its story.

  • Normal

In the normal mode, survival comes into play, and combat gets a little more challenging. Now, you must use your resources wisely and fight to survive. Compared to the story mode, enemies can make you sweat a little more, and your weapons are more valuable. However, the game is still not too difficult and is balanced.

  • Hard

Things are getting more intense in hard mode. Combats are much more difficult and time-consuming than the other two modes. Your weapons deal less damage, and enemies’ damage increases. Finding resources becomes more difficult, and it is critical that you manage what you have. It is a suitable mode for veteran players who want to play the game in its most difficult form.
