This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Crafting sims tend to start you off with simple resources, but soon enough you’re building complicated machines capable of producing anything you need. My Time at Sandrock follows the same pattern, and you don’t have to be far in the game before your Worktable alone isn’t enough to keep up with production. To do that you’ll need more complicated machines, and to make those machines you’ll need Copper Wire. It’s an early-game resource but a bit more complicated to get your hands on than some of the others since you can’t just find it in the desert. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get Copper Wire in My Time at Sandrock.

Build a Grinder

Having a Worktable isn’t enough if you want to get Copper Wire in My Time at Sandrock. You’ll need a Grinder to make it. To get your hands on that crafting station, pay a visit to the Research Center and trade Qi Data Discs x3 for the blueprint. Once you do so, it’ll take a day before the Grinder blueprint shows up in your mailbox. You can now head to the Assembly Area to begin construction. The Grinder requires the following resources to make:

  • Bearing x2 – Obtained by recycling Mechanical Scrap in a Recycler
  • Bronze Bars x4 – Obtained by smelting Copper Ore x12 and Tin Ore x8 in a Furnace
  • Bricks x6 – Obtained by smelting Stone x24 in a Furnace or by putting Stone Scrap in a Recycler

Once the Grinder is assembled, you’re ready to begin production of the Copper Wire. The good news is the recipe is extremely simple. All you need to get Copper Wire in My Time at Sandrock is Copper Bar x1. First, interact with the Grinder, then select Copper Wire from the left side of the screen. Choose the amount of Copper Wire that you’d like to make, but don’t press the “Craft” button yet. Make sure you have enough fuel to keep the Grinder running. If you don’t, you can add some by using the “+” button at the center of the menu.

It can be easy to forget, but machines in My Time at Sandrock actually require a second fuel source: water. Check the water silo on the side of your house to make sure it has enough fuel to power the Grinder and your other machines. If it does, you’re all set to hit “Craft” on the Grinder and make as much Copper Wire as you need to. If you’re running short on water, you can always pop into town to buy some so that your Copper Wire operation can proceed.

My Time at Sandrock is available for PC.
