While many people were eager to play Alone in the Dark in January, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have decided to delay it until March 20, 2024. The reason behind this sudden news is that the studio wants to avoid a crunch during the holiday season, which is something we applaud. With the game planned to release just after the holidays, it would mean the developers would have to work during this time of rest and relaxation, so, in the end, waiting a few more months isn’t too bad.
Alone in the Dark Gets Delayed Until March to Avoid Crunch
The delay of Alone in the Dark might surprise many and sadden others now that they have to wait for March 2024. The first delay occurred before its original October release to avoid colliding with Alan Wake 2. That is completely understandable. The aforementioned title caused a huge splash and got several nominations for The Game Awards. It’s only normal to want to have more spotlight for its own, especially after a year full of great survival horror games.
If you didn’t know, this is a reboot for Alone in the Dark. The game will provide players with two stories helmed by two amazing actors—David Harbour, best known for his roles in Stranger Things and Hellboy, and Jodie Comer, known for Free Guy and Killing Eve. Besides that, the team has some big talents, such as Mikael Hedberg, who worked in SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Overall, this looks like a recipe for success. Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit more.
Still, it is great to see studios putting their workforce first. This time is ideal to spend with our loved ones, and that also goes for game developers. So, we hope the studio enjoys its holidays while we eagerly await this title to arrive next year.
