It is still hard to believe that Triple-A console-grade games are coming to smartphones, but that’s the time we live in. Apple announced that Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding Director’s Cut would be coming to iPhones, iPads, and Macs before the end of 2023. But now the publisher, 505 Games, has announced that Death Stranding Director’s Cut for iPhones and Macs is being delayed to 2024.

505 Games posted on X that they are really excited to get the game out into the hands of players but they need more time to polish it and make sure it lives up to the expectations of fans. Although they did not confirm the exact release date, 505 Games did say that it would be sometime during “early 2024”.

Once Death Stranding Director’s Cut launches on iPhones and Macs, it will be playable on any Mac with an M1 chip or newer. While on the smartphone side of things, fans will need an iPhone 15 Pro or above. Death Stranding Director’s Cut for iPhones and Macs will launch for $40.

Although people have been able to stream games on their iOS devices for ages, this will natively run the games locally, which hasn’t been done before. As for the quality, players can expect graphics equal to that of the PlayStation 4. Death Stranding is a very good-looking game and should be interesting to see running natively on an iPad. As for Macs, games like Lies of P are already running flawlessly on the system at max settings.

Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village are already out on iPhones, while Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Division Resurgence are on their way in 2024. As more and more developers start porting their Triple-A titles to Apple smartphones, maybe we’ll see Android ports sometime down the line as well.
