What a joyous day it is when a new evolution arrives to Pokemon GO, and that would’ve been if Niantic had allowed players to get Dusk Lycanroc properly. If you didn’t know, this is the third form of Lycanroc that appeared in the anime as one of Ash’s iconic team members. With that in mind, players have been begging for this day. After much waiting, trainers worldwide can get their hands on this pocket monster; sadly, you won’t be able to use the perfect Rockruff you’ve been preparing for months.
Pokemon GO Players Can Only Get Dusk Lycanroc Via an Event
The Lustrous Odyssey event begins on January 6 and will run until January 10. During this event, trainers can hatch or capture a Rockruff and wait for the evening to evolve it into Dusk Lycanroc. While this sounds great, it isn’t. Many players have voiced their concerns, saying Niantic is gate-keeping this new Pokemon behind the event. Some gamers have even shown their perfect Rockruffs they’ve been preparing for a year for this moment. Sadly, they’ll remain in the Pokemon Box because your Rock-type dog-like creatures won’t be able to achieve a Dusk form.
A quick dive into the official X (formerly known as Twitter) post can show you the discontent of many players. This is quite bad, but some players are hopeful that Niantic will see its mistake and change it before the event goes live over the weekend. If not, anyone who wants a Dusk Lycanroc in Pokemon GO must save some 2km and 7km eggs to get the chance to hatch a Rockruff that evolves into this iconic form. Besides, trainers can also find this Rock-type companion in certain field research, so while it is bad we won’t be able to use the Pokemon we want, there are still some ways to get it. So, prepare to flip your cap, grab your Pokeballs, and start walking to get this Alolan creature.
