John Wick has greatly inspired most other action movies in recent years. Dev Patel is giving that Keanu Reeves energy with his directorial debut, Monkey Man, which released a trailer today (seen below). The action-packed thriller is also produced by Jordan Peele.
The India-set film follows the actor-turned-director as an ex-felon stuck in an endless cycle of fights in an underground fight club. Sick of his situation, he wants revenge on the people who put him there. From there, he goes on a bloody rampage against the city’s elite.

Some films are made for the big screen but may not always get that opportunity. He is joined by co-stars Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, and Makarand Deshpande. The screenplay was written by Paul Angunawela and John Collee.
The Oscar-nominated actor and Get Out director produce with Jomon Thomas, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler, and Anjay Nagpal. Jonathan Fuhrman, Natalya Pavchinskya, Aaron L. Gilbert, Andria Spring, Alison-Jane Roney, and Steven Thibault serve as executive producers.
Dev Patel has made the next major step in his career with Monkey Man. He was previously nominated for an Oscar for his role in Lion. His other known projects include The Green Knight, Slumdog Millionaire, Chappie, and The Newsroom.
