FFXIV Is Getting Too Easy, and One Feature Could Fix It All

Saving the world is getting easy.

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

While FFXIV features some of the most mindblowing and mechanic-heavy fights in MMOs, one could say that as time goes by, certain encounters become too easy. FFXIV has a feature called item-level sync that any veteran and even newcomers should be familiar with. Whenever you go into an old instance with your max-level gear, it gets leveled down to keep the challenge for all. However, certain Endwalker raids have suffered from a bad implementation of this system, and players want the initial challenge brought back to these fights.

A few months ago, Warriors of Light begged Yoshi-P and his team to bring a proper item-level sync to The Final Day trial. If you didn’t know, players were breezing through the fight, avoiding the big musical moment during the second phase. Thankfully, the developers listened and added a proper item-level sync to it, letting gamers relieve this encounter in all its splendor. On the other hand, it seems some gamers have noticed recent content getting gradually easier as new gear arrives to make their characters more powerful.

Furthermore, this system is not only for veteran players but also new ones. Something that many gamers complain about is how quickly they beat Heavensward or Stormblood raids, meaning some newcomers can’t even see the complete fights with all the mechanics.

Personally, I believe this is something the team should fix as soon as possible. In a few months, we’ll get an influx of players due to the Xbox beta test. Besides, the Dawntrail expansion is right around the corner, meaning many will return to prepare. How will new players get to experience these fights if they breeze through them? And, if that wasn’t enough, even some recent Endwalker raids are too easy now. An example is the first part of the latest Alliance Raid. You can beat the first boss without ever seeing his second combo, which can be good if you’re in a rush, but it’s not ideal for new players.

Ultimately, I’m hopeful because I know Yoshi-P and the gang listen to us players. If they did it with The Final Day, they can do it with other raids. Still, there’s a lot on their plate right now. A new graphical update, a new expansion, two brand-new jobs, and much more. Hopefully, they won’t forget about this tiny detail to keep the challenge up for us.
