How good is your luck in Pokemon Go? If it’s great, you’ve probably acquired a few Lucky Pokemon. But which pocket monsters are the best to focus on when trying for a Lucky Trade? Well, the best is ultimately subjective. Some people care more about lower Stardust costs and giving higher IVs for battle. Others are just collectors and want as many Lucky Pokemon as possible, especially if they’re Shiny or Legendary. Even so, like many players, I have my personal Lucky Trade faves in Pokemon Go that I feel are worth the effort.
15. Machamp
Machamp is a solid Pokemon to Lucky Trade. It’s certainly not the strongest Fighting-type in the game, but who wouldn’t want one, let alone a Lucky one? Machamp is a classic and rather versatile Pokemon. You can use them in Raids, Gyms, and PvP. It has a solid backing of moves, and it’s not too hard to come by one in the evolution line. This can help you stock up on Candies and max it out easily with a Lucky Trade.
14. Dialga
Dialga is a useful Pokemon to have in your Master League team. It’s incredible on defense since it resists a large number of types, especially other Dragon-types. Dialga is even more useful in Raids against Dragon Pokemon thanks to its TDO. Don’t look for this Steel/Dragon-type based on its DPS though since there are stronger ones out there. It’s more handy as support.
13. Gengar
Yet another franchise classic, Gengar boasts high DPS in Pokemon Go that makes it worthwhile in a Lucky Trade. Focusing moves like Shadow Claw or Lick are good Fast attacks for this Ghost-type. Perhaps one of the best ways to utilize Gengar would be in Raids. Of course, you can jump into other types of battles if you max them out or even manage to get Mega Gengar.
12. Lugia
Lugia, the Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon, is another optimal choice for Master League battles. There’s no cap, so you can excel with the IV with a solid Lucky Trade in Pokemon Go. Its moves are varied so that it can work well against different types of pocket monsters. Aeroblast is what you want to invest the most in since it can break through against Pokemon that usually resist Flying-type attacks. Other moves still come in handy too like Sky Attack.
11. Groudon
Another Pokemon centered around Master League (or just collectors), Groudon is well-known as one of the stronger Ground-type pocket monsters to Lucky Trade for. This isn’t because of the Ground moves though as they aren’t that great. Instead, you want Groudon to have Fire Punch. It’s the best move to use in battle. But I would lean with Groudon mainly if you want to continue to build your Lucky Dex.
10. Garchomp
Garchomp is a favorite among many players, but it’s rare enough that you have to simply hope you know someone who wants to Trade with it. The Dragon/Ground-type Pokemon is resistant against multiple common types, making it a good candidate in numerous battles. With its move set, it should take down a multitude of Pokemon, and once you Lucky Trade it, you can max it out with ease.
9. Lucario
Lucario is a popular Fighting/Steel-type Pokemon, known across the franchise for its reliability. In Pokemon Go, it’s powerful in Raids. It has incredible Fighting-type moves like Power-Up Punch, Close Combat, and Aura Sphere. If you focus them on PvE, you can easily excel with Lucario on any team lineup. There’s a chance the Pokemon still works well in PvP depending on the League.
8. Galarian Bird (Any)
If you manage to find a trustworthy person willing to do a guaranteed Lucky Trade, any one of the three Galarian Pokemon birds will work well. The three Legendary Galarian birds you want to look out for are:
- Zapdos (Fighting/Flying)
- Moltres (Dark/Flying)
- Articuno (Psychic/Flying)
Of course, we all know that these birds are ultra rare. So, you may never get your hands on a Lucky version of one. But if you do, any of them are nice to add to the collection. Besides that, they’re excellent for PvE and PvP battles. So, you can admire them and utilize them at the same time.
7. Giratina
Although you may do well with either type, I do appreciate Origin Forme Giratina more than the Altered one. This Ghost/Dragon-type resists a wonderful amount of Pokemon types, so they can withstand most in battle. Best of all, you can bring a high-stat Giratina into the Master League battles or put them on the team to handle a strong Raid match.
6. Metagross
If you manage to get a Lucky Trade Metagross in Pokemon Go, you want this pocket monster to have Meteor Mash. It’s a potent attack against Ice and Fairy-types. So, if you want to jump into any Raid where the Pokemon has a Steel weakness, the Steel/Psychic-type Metagross is the perfect choice to put on the team. It’s not too bad in PvP battles either, especially with Earthquake.
5. Chandelure
If you don’t have Origin Giratina for a Lucky Trade, then you can’t go wrong with the Ghost/Fire-type Chandelure. It deals high Ghost-based DPS with moves like Shadow Ball and the elite Poltergeist. If not one of those, then you can always focus on Fire-type moves like Overheat as even that can work great for a Charged move.
4. Rayquaza
Rayquaza is an absolute menace, and if you can get it in a Lucky Trade, the Pokemon will see you through many PvP and Raid battles. The Dragon/Flying-type is known as one of the best attackers compared to other similar types. Dragon Ascent alone sits high among the leading Charged moves that can rip through Pokemon, especially those weak to Flying moves like Bug and Fighting-types.
3. Kyogre
A Legendary Water-type, Kyogre will rip through Pokemon weak to these kinds of attacks. Origin Pulse is the signature move that you want it to have. Even without it though, it can stand on its own with attacks like Hydro Pump and the Ice-type move Blizzard. Surf is another reliable Charged move, while the Fast attack Waterfall can wear opponents down in no time.
2. Togekiss
Don’t let the adorableness of Togekiss fool you. The Fairy/Flying-type is a phenomenal Pokemon in battle, making it a sought-after Lucky Trade. It’s another one that can tear through opponents in the Master League once you get that near-perfect (or even 100%) IV. Plus, Togekiss has a nice collection of Fairy, Flying, and even Fighting and Fire-type attacks to deal out adaptable damage.
1. Mewtwo
Finally, we have the famous Mewtwo as one of the best Lucky Trades in Pokemon Go. Just getting your hands on a standard Mewtwo can take time, and some players may never see one. As a Lucky Trade, this classic Psychic-type is even more worthy no matter how often updates change its ranking. Bring it out in a PvE against Pokemon weak to Psychic moves, and you can own the fight.
