A few days from its 1.0 release, Last Epoch has finally bared out one of its aces: David Harbour! You know him as Jim Hopper from Stranger Things and, strangely enough, as the latest Hollywood iteration of Santa Claus. David Harbour not only showed support for Last Epoch, but he’s also had a hand in developing the upcoming Diablo 4 rival.

The David’s in the Details

What’s a red carpet celebrity doing in the Last Epoch dev team, you ask? Well, apparently, he designed one of the items you can obtain in-game. That could be anything from weapons, armor, jewelry, and even crafting materials.

Last Epoch‘s developers, Eleventh Hour Games, haven’t specified which in-game item yet (at the time of writing). In any case, here’s the announcement from Eleventh Hour Games via Twit– sorry, X:

🤩We're Star-Struck🤩

Last Epoch is an isometric ARPG in the same vein as the Diablo games, where you slay monsters and collect loot in an irresistible loop to become more powerful. The game has been in early access since 2019. Now, it’s finally set to enter its 1.0 or full version release on February 21, 2024.

As for the ‘socials’ in which David Harbour announced his involvement with Last Epoch, that would be his Instagram account. It has more than nine million followers.

Here’s the exact post below, which also serves as an ad for Last Epoch. However, David Harbour is certainly someone who tests and uses the products he advertises.

David Harbour is known in the gaming community as an enthusiastic ARPG and gaming fan. He even announced back in 2021 that he took time off from work and family to commit to Diablo 2: Resurrected, the remaster of the classic Diablo 2 from Blizzard Entertainment.

For those out of the loop, the Diablo games popularized and defined the real-time isometric ARPG looter genre back in 1996. Diablo 2 served as its most definitive form, based on consensus. The series has since had a long and enduring legacy up to Diablo 4 with plenty of competitors in the sub-genre it created.

Now, David Harbour is showing his utmost support for Last Epoch. It’s one of the closest and biggest underdog competitors of Diablo 4. It’s also worth noting that Eleventh Hour Games, Last Epoch‘s developer and publisher, is an indie studio and is nowhere near in size as Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo 4‘s creators.
