Like other survival games, Nightingale features numerous resources that you must gather to build your base. One of the most important materials is Stone Block, which you need to craft a vital structure after the tutorial section. Note that Stone Block is not the same as regular Rocks, which you can easily pick up; you will need a tool to gather this resource. Without further ado, here’s how you can farm Stone Blocks in Nightingale.

You can obtain Stone Blocks by mining large stone deposits using a Pickaxe. Although the Simple Pickaxe is better, you can still use the Makeshift Mining Pick that you already crafted during the tutorial.

You can make a Makeshift Mining Pick using these materials:

  • Rock x3
  • Stick x3
  • Plant Fibre x6

Since Nightingale has realistic graphics, some players may get confused about which rocks drop Stone Blocks. While holding your tool, you must find a rock deposit that shows the pickaxe icon when you look at it.

During my playthrough, I had an embarrassing moment when I tried to mine decorative rocks. These rocks are usually much bigger and have moss growing on them. Please do not make the same mistake as me, or you will waste your Pickaxe’s durability.

Lastly, unlike farming Stone Blocks, other mineral rocks require a better Pickaxe. You can know which one you cannot mine by looking at the number beside the icon. The color of the icon will also change to red, telling you that your equipment is too crude to mine this resource.

Once you are done farming Stone Blocks, you can use this resource to craft various structures in Nightingale. However, the most important one is Estate Cairn, which functions as the core of your base. Besides allowing you to fast-travel, it can also suppress the appearance of monsters near your camp.

Here are the materials you need to build one:

  • Rock x 20
  • Stone Block x5
