Gifts are good all year round, in real life or Dragon’s Dogma 2. While you shouldn’t expect it to be placed under a decked-out tree, you can expect surprises from characters you’ve just met. If you’re playing as special classes like the Mystic Spearhand, chances are you won’t need extra trinkets weighing you down. But how do you give and receive gifts to show appreciation, and what do they do in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Stick around to find out!
How to Receive Gifts in Dragon’s Dogma 2
If you sleep at an inn in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and another player in the Rift has used your pawn, you’ll receive a gift. This is part of a Travelogue summarizing RC rewarded, ratings gained, and pawn quests completed.
It’s not guaranteed that you’ll always get a winner, as it’s up to the players what they give, but you’ll always get some token of appreciation. Just pray that token isn’t another rotting scrap of meat or a consolation potato. When you wake up from resting at an inn, you’ll trigger this sequence, and it happens naturally.
Your gifts will most often be usable items including food, crafting materials, and even valuables like Wakestones. It’s a form of indirect interaction with other players, and receiving them takes little effort on your part. If you get better gifts, the chances are you’ve equipped your pawn well and given them good gear. Or the other player just had some ore burning a hole in their inventory.
How to Give Gifts in Dragon’s Dogma 2
This part is for players dealing with pawns borrowed from other players. You can give gifts to other pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 once you send a pawn back to the Rift or swap them out when recruiting another. Additionally, when you set your pawn quest, you can set up a reward of either Gold or items. Not technically a gift, but additional items gained from player interaction.
This will prompt you to give a rating, such as a like, or add them as a favorite for later. It sends you to your inventory screen, so consider what you find useful. If you have extras of sleep remedies for players besieged by harpies, send those!
You can give gifts to other NPCs, but consider them carefully! Gifting potions to your Oxcart driver is possible, but it doesn’t confer the same tangible benefits. If you want to give gifts to NPCs though, start a conversation with them, and a button prompt will show up on the bottom right for giving fits. Receiving and subsequently giving gifts in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is ostensibly an act of paying it forward, so play responsibly!
