While you can fight your way through one of Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s hidden bosses, we advise against it, especially since the Sphinx riddles and their solutions are a thing to behold. When exploring the vast map of this game, you might encounter this mythological creature and feel violence is the only option. That isn’t the case. It’s all a game of wits that’ll make you travel far and wide to get some interesting rewards in the game. But if you don’t know where to go or what to do, a bit of help with the riddles goes a long way.
How To Solve All Sphinx Riddles in Dragon’s Dogma 2
As you can imagine, this is one of the game’s top-secret bosses, so anything we say here should be taken as heavy spoilers. If you’re all right with following along with the guide after that, let’s see all the solutions for the 10 Sphinx riddles in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Sphinx Riddles: Volume 1
We shall call this volume one because there are two sets of riddles in the game. While we could tell you how to find the Sphinx, we think it is better for you to discover that yourself. If you want a clue, we recommend checking the Ancient Battleground. However, we’ll help you with each riddle. So, here are the solutions:
Riddle | Solution |
---|---|
Riddle of Eyes | Enter the cave next to the Sphinx shrine, and above the entrance, you’ll see a chest. It’ll contain a Phial. Bring it to the Sphinx. You can also clear the cave for experience and DCP. |
Riddle of Madness | Use the Phial to ‘capture’ an NPC with high affinity towards you. You can see how many NPCs have high affinity in the History tab. Alternatively, you can identify your ‘beloved’ NPCs by watching them blush when you approach them. |
Riddle of Wisdom | Go to a Rift Stone and look for a pawn that has the Sphinx moniker. Hire them and bring them to the Sphinx. |
Riddle of Conviction | You must give an item of value to the Sphinx. I used the Dragon Gaze item and passed the test. Don’t worry; you’ll get the item again from the chest you open. |
Riddle of Rumination | Take a screenshot or mark the location of your first Seeker’s Token. You must return to this place within seven days and pick up the new token. If you let the seven days pass, you’ll fail the riddle. |
Sphinx Riddles: Volume 2
As we mentioned, there are ten Sphinx Riddles in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and once you solve the first five, you’ll need to find the solution for the remaining ones. To find the second shrine after you finish the first set or fail any of the riddles, you’ll need to reach the Frontier Shrine. Again, we don’t want to spoil this, but you can find it if you enter Battahl through the river. Here are the solutions for the last set:
Riddle | Solution |
---|---|
Riddle of Reunion | Find the Sphinx at the Frontier Shrine. You’ll solve the riddle just by arriving at the destination. |
Riddle of Differentiation | The Sphinx will show you the image of either Dante or Vergil (quite the reference). You need to watch closely and bring the NPC back to the Sphinx. Dante is at the border town, and Vergil is at Bakkbattahl. You can use your NPC logbook to confirm the NPC’s identity. |
Riddle of Contest | You’ll have to fight an enemy while being weakened. The easiest way to defeat the enemy is by making them flinch, grabbing them, and throwing them off a cliff. |
Riddle of Futility | You must carry a fragile vase all the way to Bakkbattahl at the Bayway Mural. Put it down before a fight and if you break it, you’ll fail the riddle. |
Riddle of Recollection | Remember the riddles you’ve solved so far. You must put the amount of statues corresponding to the solved riddles. If you solved five, place five statues. Six, place six statues, and so on. |
If you ask us, we believe the hardest riddle involves the vase. One little thing can ruin your day and your riddle run, so handle it carefully. Furthermore, try to screenshot the location of your first seeker’s token; that one can be challenging, too.

Some riddles are easy to solve, while others will take a lot of time, effort, and mostly luck. But if you have the patience for it, don’t be afraid to put your wits to the test.
