Once the challenge starts getting serious in Once Human, you’re going to need to craft items from sterner stuff, like steel. And steel just so happens to require iron. You’re going to need heaps of that heavy metal once you dip your toes in level 20 areas and beyond. The difficulty during this phase also ramps up quite a bit and mining for Iron Ore gets more dangerous. Hence, allow me to help you with Iron Ore in Once Human.
Iron Ore Location in Once Human
To find heaps of Iron Ore, you’re going to have to venture northwest from your starting location, which might be a little disorienting as Tin Ore for levels 10-20 leads you down south.
We’ve marked the location on the map, but generally, you want to head north or northwest from the Monolith of Greed. There’s a long strip of road there adjacent to a cliff wall that’s full of Iron Ore nodes you can mine sort of peacefully.
Iron Ore nodes are rocks with a reddish or rusty tint, making them distinct compared to the Tin, Copper, or Silver nodes. They’re easy enough to spot in daylight.
How to Mine Iron Ore Efficiently
If you want to maximize Iron Ore in Once Human as you’re going to need a lot of it to craft and upgrade Tier 3 weapons and armor, we recommend settling in the spot we marked above. That means moving your base to that area.
This way, you can process the Iron Ore fast and then come out and mine them if you’re still missing some. Of course, for mining Iron Ore in Once Human, use the highest-tier Pickaxe you can craft.
The area is full of Boars, however, and they will attack you on sight. So be ready to pack some heat for protection. On the plus side, you also get to harvest their meat.
For less obvious tips, consider following these before mining Iron Ore:
- Bring a sniper rifle or shotgun for the boars.
- Eat Roasted Meat (or other food that boosts Stamina) before mining to increase your Stamina.
- Consider eating the Bacon Burger food to mine Iron Ore faster.
- Find more Digby Boy Deviants to mine Iron Ore for you.
- Be careful when using vehicles to move around nodes as crashing into a node will destroy it.
- Consider discarding the residual Gravel to make room for Iron Ore, and keep your weight below 100 percent.
