The Root is one of the main enemies in the Remnant series and is responsible for all the contamination on Earth and Yaesha. While we won’t go into details about how big this foe was in the main entry, its roots have dug their way deep (no pun intended) into the sequel. Those Travelers with a grudge can finally fight The Root Emissary in Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom. However, the encounter has a few gimmicks, and you can skip it altogether if you decide to submit to this otherworldly foe.
How To Find The Root Emissary in Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom
The Root Emissary is a boss from the Infested Abyss dungeon, an area in Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom. So, you must start a campaign in this DLC to be able to access that area, but even so, it is not guaranteed you’ll see this exact place. Remember that Remnant 2 generates its content procedurally, so items, locations, dungeons, and bosses may vary. If you don’t see Infested Abyss in your campaign, you must re-roll and pray that it will appear this time.
If you have accessed Infested Abyss, you should know it is a bottomless pit full of roots and Root enemies. You must descend, but to do so, you must defeat several Nexus that will block your way. If you want to know how to beat this mini-boss, we have a guide here. After clearing the area of all Root Nexus, you’ll encounter the Emissary at the end of the Infested Abyss.
Leave or Fight The Root Emissary
When you find the Emissary, you must approach it to start a conversation; depending on your answers, you will get one of these options:
- Leave Him
You will avoid having a battle against this enemy, and in return, he will give you the new Profane Soul Stone amulet. This amulet is great for the Summoner Archetype as it increases the speed of summoned minions. - Fight Him
If you decide to fight this boss, you should know that he can summon several copies of the player and other party members simultaneously. Its attacks are fast. It’ll sometimes ram you with full force before you react. We recommend avoiding its attacks and defeating its summons first, as they are quite annoying. While it is glitching, shoot it as much as you can to lower its HP. When you defeat it, you will get the new Near-Sighted mutator, which increases the Ranged Damage of this weapon by 10% to enemies within 7m.
Since Remnant 2 allows you to re-roll adventures and The Forgotten Kingdom DLC is no exception, you can see both outcomes to The Root Emissary’s encounter. If you decide to join The Root in your first adventure, you can restart it and choose to fight it in the next one. Also, if you play in a friend’s or another player’s world, it will feature a new campaign. You’ll get to farm more experience, loot, and other things that’ll make your journeys easier.
