Danny Masterson was once a fan-favorite actor who starred in movies and television shows. He shot to fame with his role as Hyde on That 70s Show and later reunited with his co-star Ashton Kutcher for the Netflix series The Ranch. However, after claims of sexual abuse crimes were made against the actor, he was axed from the show. The case later went to trial and Masterson was convicted of the crimes. He’s now serving a multi-year sentence in prison. However, things may not be as fans would think for the actor.
According to In Touch Weekly, Masterson’s life behind bars is actually pretty good. During most days he gets to go outside to get some air and sunshine. He’s said to play sports like pickleball and basketball. “He’s getting better and his playing has improved in the past few months. He’s on the court quite a bit. The one thing I can say is that his jump shot is surprisingly good,” an insider tells the outlet.
Does Danny Masterson Have It Too Easy in Prison?
Meanwhile, Danny Masterson is said to work for the guards at the prison. He hands out permission slips to his fellow inmates who have to leave their cells to go to medical appointments, counseling sessions, and other activities. He is required to be in his cell for headcount at a specific time each day. However, that doesn’t mean he’s bored. Instead, he’s reportedly given a “prison-issued tablet” that he can play games on. He’s also allegedly allowed to watch TV and movies on the device.
Although he has access to the internet, his messages, emails, and viewing activity is said to be monitored by the prison staff. Masterson is also said to have a small group of friends within the prison walls.
“He’s got a click of friends, if you want to call them that, that he hangs around with. It’s mostly the guys in the neighboring cells,” the insider dished. “It’s a mature crowd so they are not doing dumb s–t. These are older guys that are out of the gangs serving 25 to life that are rehabilitated, hoping to get a [parole hearing] date to get out. They are well-behaved.”
It seems that Danny Masterson’s life in prison isn’t the grueling punishment that many fans may have originally believed. However, that doesn’t mean he’s happy. The actor has continued to maintain his innocence despite his conviction. Meanwhile, his close friends like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have also supported him throughout his legal woes. However, it’s unclear if his former friends have come to visit him at the prison.
