Whether or not you should skip the campaign for Season 4: Loot Reborn isn’t as cut-and-dry as it seems in Diablo 4. There are a handful of benefits you can set yourself up for down the road if you choose to experience the campaign. Your personal goals can weigh heavily on the scale, too. What may affect your decision the most is whether or not you’ve even played the campaign.
D4: Should You Skip the Campaign in Season 4 Loot Reborn?
Let’s first start by getting a feel for where you are with the game. Since Diablo 4 is now a part of Game Pass, this may be your first time playing. If that’s the case, I personally recommend playing through the game campaign at least once. It’s a good story that runs for about 30 to 40 hours and will give you a nice overview of Sanctuary.
While you’re working on the campaign, I also urge you to complete your Renown Tasks. You can do that even if you skip the campaign, but it’s much easier when you’re already in the area for the main quest and can complete them at the same time. Renown Tasks include:
- Discovering areas
- Finding and activating Altars of Lilith
- Activating Waypoints
- Completing side quests, dungeons, and Strongholds
Every tier you unlock can reward experience, gold, skill points, potion slots, maximum Obols, and Paragon Points. More importantly, most of that progress carries over to your seasonal characters.
But say you already completed D4’s campaign and your Renown Tasks are accounted for. In that case, I say immediately jump right into Season 4 Loot Reborn and start tackling Helltides and The Pit. When you create your character, make sure the “Skip Campaign” option is ticked.
If for whatever reason you didn’t do that, you just have to complete the prologue (should only take a few minutes) and the option will be available to you again.
