The Merc with a Mouth is finally coming to the MCU in two months, but he’s already making his mark. Deadpool & Wolverine marks Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s official welcome into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s one of the most anticipated MCU movies since Endgame. In fact, fans are so excited for Deadpool & Wolverine that it’s already sold over 200 thousand tickets, and it’s only day one of presale. The movie’s officially record-breaking when it’s not even going to be out for months, but really, should we have expected anything less from the king of the R-Rated superhero movie and a legend like Hugh Jackman?
Today was a big day for fans of Deadpool as ticket presales for Deadpool & Wolverine officially kicked off. The movie’s going to hit theaters on July 27th, and if the day 1 ticket presales have been any indication, the theaters should brace themselves. In the last 24 hours, more that 200,000 MCU fans have bought advance tickets for Deadpool & Wolverine. Not only is that an impressive number on its own, but AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aron took to his personal Twitter account to confirm that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s upcoming team-up has sold more presale tickets that any other R-Rated movie ever.
The record is even more impressive when you consider that as far as R-rated movies go, Deadpool & Wolverine‘s competition includes Deadpool and Deadpool 2. We’re sure Ryan Reynolds is patting himself on the back right now. Some other high-earning R-rated movies include Oppenheimer and Joker, but it’s clear who the guy at the top of the heap is, if you ask us.
Obviously, there’s no telling where sales for Deadpool & Wolverine will end up after it’s released. That said, if this is what the numbers look like after day 1, then there might be a possibility that the movie eventually joins the exclusive $1 billion club, alongside other MCU movies like Infinity War, No Way Home, and Black Panther.
If you want to contribute to its success, then be sure to get your ticket for Deadpool & Wolverine, in theaters July 27th.
