Despite the fall of Khaenri’ah many years ago, its people still exist in the world of Teyvat. Many of them are shrouded in mysteries, and they have close ties with the Abyss. One of the most intriguing figures is the Sinner Vedrfolnir, whose name the players heard for the first time in Genshin Impact version 4.7. Not much is known about him at this point, but he has a connection with our favorite Bough Keeper.
Genshin Impact Vedrfolnir & the Sinners Explained
During the Bedtime Story main mission, Dainsleif explains that Vedrfolnir is one of the five Sinners who betrayed Khaenri’ah. Here are all their names:
- “The Visionary” Vedrfolnir
- “The Wise” Hroptatyr
- “Gold” Rhinedottir
- “The Foul” Surtalogy
- “Racher of Solnary” Rerir
The Bough Keeper claims that the group was part of Khaenri’ah, but they did not step up to help when the kingdom was falling apart. For that reason, Dainsleif swears to get his revenge and confront them. He believes that the destruction of Khaenri’ah could’ve been avoided if one of them had acted.
Dainsleif also states that the Sinner Vedrfolnir is actually his older brother in Genshin Impact. Due to his failure to perform his duty and protect Khaenri’ah, the Bough Keeper no longer has any goodwill toward his kin and only wishes to make Vedrfolnir pay.
It is unclear what has happened to Vedrfolnir. However, the Abyss sibling encountered the man in the past, and he appeared as a chained black crystal. His appearance inspired Clothar to create the Abyss Order and perhaps the Loom of Fate.
Not only that, but Vedrfolnir even had a hand in creating the ancient prophecy in Fontaine. He was the person who foresaw the deaths of Fontainian people and the fate of Hydro Archon. Although Furina and Focalors managed to trick fate, his prophecy still came true.
