Marvel Rivals is the upcoming 5v5 shooter that emulates the style of Overwatch while adding its own creative twists, and you might get a chance to play it a lot sooner than expected. NetEase Games, the studio behind Marvel Rivals, announced in a blog post today that the closed beta release date is in late July 2024.

The Marvel Rivals closed beta test starts at 10 PM UTC / 6 PM EDT on July 24, and it will end on August 5, 2024. Although the testing period is small, if all goes well, we should be seeing more closed beta tests soon, and maybe an open beta test somewhere down the line.

The closed beta test will give players access to a total of 20 characters to choose from in Marvel Rivals. The characters you can expect to play if you get into the test are as follows:

  • Adam Warlock
  • Black Panther
  • Doctor Strange
  • Groot
  • Hela
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man
  • Loki
  • Luna Snow
  • Magik
  • Magneto
  • Mantis
  • Namor
  • Peni Parker
  • Punisher
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Star-Lord
  • Storm
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Spider-Man
  • Venom

The test will give players access to four maps set in different places in the Marvel universe like Tokyo 2099 and Yggsgard, along with three game modes called Convoy, Domination, and Convergence. The blog also adds that fans can expect more details to be revealed in July, which includes additional content, events, tournaments, and live streams.

Even if you apply for the Marvel Rivals closed beta, you may or may not get in. However, the developer has confirmed that there will be more opportunities with extra invite codes soon.
