Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and founder of Meta (Facebook), is no stranger to scandals and controversies, as he’s even appeared at the U.S. Senate to make an apology. On the other hand, his wife, Priscilla Chan, is a philanthropist and a former pediatrician whom no one really speaks of as much as the Zuck himself. Recently, Mark wished to do something rather special and unique for his spouse — erect a massive statue of her in his front yard.
Posting photos of his wife and the statue to Instagram, the Meta founder showed gratitude for Priscilla:
“Bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife. Thanks @danielarsham”

Many found this act heartwarming, with comments such as “Husbands everywhere are shaking” and “This will be in a museum someday.” However, some highly upvoted comments proved that a good majority thinks the opposite and that the Zuck’s heartfelt gift is uncanny.
“Yikes. This is quite unflattering,” states one user, while another sarcastically remarks, “This is the most billionaire thing to do ever,” followed by the reply, “and not in a good way.” While it’s clear Mark Zuckerberg wanted to show off his ‘overflowing love’ for his wife, it appears the concept backfired from the perspective of quite a few followers.
At Least the Zuck Is Supporting the Arts
If anything, at least the CEO of Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is supporting ‘art for the sake of art.’ On the subreddit r/Fauxmoi, the top comment related to Mark’s Instagram post reads:
“If I had billions of dollars, I wouldn’t hate it if my partner made a statue of me. Sure he’s done a lot of questionable things in the past, but considering what super villains we have today (hello Elon), this is very low stakes. At least he’s supporting the arts”.
