Argonaut Games has come back to life and has announced the remaster of the age-old Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, and its release date is a lot closer than you’d think. The remaster will be available on consoles and PC in 2024, but the exact release date hasnโ€™t been announced yet.

The co-CEO of Argonaut Games said that he has been part of the studio since its first game back in 1986, and to come back to that studio decades later is a big step, and the team has a lot more announcements in store in the coming months.

If youโ€™re a fan of Argonaut Games and their older titles, youโ€™ll be happy to know that a lot of them are planned to be remastered in the future, but have not been officially announced yet. The release date of the original Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was back in 1997 and it was a massive success, selling millions of copies globally.

The remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos promises to bring the game back without losing its charm, while improving the graphics, adding modern control mechanics, keeping the nostalgia, and making it the definitive way of experiencing Crocโ€™s adventures.

The new version of the game will also include something called Crocipedia, which will act as a museum that has all the long-lost development assets such as concept art, animation tests, game design documents, interviews of the team, and much more. The studio promises that it will be an extensive and meticulously designed mode that is made for those who liked the original game.

This is the ideal time for a remaster of this sort because other revivals like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and others have proven that 3D character platforming games are still just as much fun as they were in the past. Remasters give newcomers an opportunity to experience what made them so great in the first place.
