Earlier this year, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson were constantly in the public eye. From doing multiple TV interviews to starring in their very own documentary, all eyes were on the couple as they discussed their unconventional relationship following the ex-con’s release from prison in December. While fame has given the pair many opportunities, it’s also closed the door on others. For example, Anderson revealed it cost him his job.
Ryan Anderson Says “Being With Gypsy” Affected His Teaching Career
During a recent live stream on TikTok, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s estranged husband, Ryan Anderson, admitted that his relationship with the ex-con hurt his teaching career. “In the Prison Confessions documentary, I did lose a job being with Gypsy,” he said.
Anderson said he used to work at a local Christian school in Louisiana. However, after his relationship with Blanchard went viral, the school cut ties with him. Anderson implied the decision may have been due to Blanchard’s controversial past. (She served seven years in prison after helping her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in June 2015.)
“They felt like I broke the honor code by being with Gypsy,” he explained. “It was one of those where that’s the reason I got let go.”
Despite no longer having a job, Anderson said the school continued to pay him throughout the year to avoid being sued. “They knew they were wrong in letting me go,” he added.
Luckily, Anderson has since found a new teaching job. However, he refused to share any details about his current school likely due to privacy reasons. “I love my school. I love my kids. That’s all I can say,” Anderson told viewers.
The Louisiana native’s comments come six months after Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson broke up in March.
